PRESS RELEASE Brussels, 5 July 2005
The European Training Institute (ETI) and EurActiv are delighted to announce their agreement to provide training courses in Brussels. Fondation EurActiv, a private foundation under Belgian law, currently provides the leading EU media portal, EurActiv.com, with guidance on editorial strategy and media independence, as well as providing a training faculty for journalists. ETI is the leading organisation specialised in EU affairs training, set-up by merging EIS Training Centre (formerly ECPAB) and the training and education programmes of The European Policy Centre.
Daniel Guéguen, Executive Chairman of ETI, said: “Since the establishment of ETI in January 2005 we have become convinced that there is a strong demand in Brussels and in the member states for a range of specialised training in media and communications.”
Initially, ETI and EurActiv will be working together to provide intensive and practical courses on ‘Online communications’ and on ‘EU media training’. At a later date the aim is to broaden this non-exclusive agreement to include topics such as crisis communications, drafting of position papers, how to write a press release, etcetera.
Speaking on behalf of Fondation EurActiv, Julian Oliver said: “In the increasingly competitive EU marketplace for ideas the media EurActiv was able to establish itself as a reference. Fondation EurActiv gathers this online communications knowledge and will now make this available to ETI participants.”
The first ETI/EurActiv co-branded training programmes start later this month. See online brochures for registration and other details: http://www.e-t-i.be and/or http://www.euractiv.com/en/training .
