PRESS RELEASE  Brussels, 10 March 2006

Will the re-focused Lisbon agenda fly?

The Barroso Commission has invested considerable effort in trying to revive the Lisbon strategy. The Spring summit 23-24 March will be the first occasion for the European heads of state to take stock of progress since President Barroso re-launched the strategy a year ago.

In the run up to the summit EurActiv will feature a Special Week of coverage from 11-15 March focusing on a number of issues related to socio-economic reforms in the EU:

  • The effects of globalisation and trade liberalisation on EU labour markets
  • The Nordic ‘flexicurity’ model – can it be exported to France and Germany?
  • Comparison of National Action plans - best and worst cases
  • Integrating women in Slovakia’s labour market - a case study
  • European Business Summit

EurActiv will be available for comment:
