New index boost for socially responsible investment
The cause of socially responsible investment (SRI) has been boosted by the launch of FTSE4Good less than two weeks after the Commission began consultation on how to improve corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Europe. The FTSE4Good indices, which allows investors to monitor the performance of socially responsible companies across four regions, went live on 31 July. The run-up to its launch saw much comment on both the kind of criteria that it uses when analysing companies, and the results they led to in terms of who was in and who was out.
