Product safety Directive adopted

The Directive on general product safety, approved by the Conciliation Committee, was adopted unanimously by the Parliament at the third reading, on 4 October. The aim of the legislation is to ensure high standards of consumer safety through strict monitoring of the market, clearly defined responsibility of manufacturers and distributors, and close cooperation between national authorities.
