The European Parliament will adopt resolutions on enlargement and candidate countries' progress at its second "State of Enlargement" debate at the plenary session in Strasbourg on Tuesday, 4 September. The Parliament is expected to urge the European Union to proceed with speedy enlargement even if the Nice Treaty (on institutional reform to prepare the Union for receiving new members) is not ratified by all Member States.
