Kurznachricht - Anti-Terrorexperten rufen 'Agenda von Madrid' ins Leben

Im Vorfeld des Jahrestags der schweren Anschläge auf Bahnhöfe in Madrid findet in der Hauptstadt Spaniens eine viertägige internationale Konferenz statt, auf der EU-Chefs und Experten über die Strategie zur Terrorismusbekämpfung beraten.

Over 200 heads of state, political leaders and anti-terrorism experts are gathering for the International Summit on Democracy, Terrorism and Security, 8-11 March 2005. The conference seeks to set out a comprehensive strategy through which the international community can come together to combat the threat of terrorism without sacrificing democratic values and freedoms.

The outcome of the debates will be put together into an international programme against terrorism to be known as the „Agenda of Madrid“. 

The Madrid anniversary has prompted worrying reflection on the EU’s state of readiness. Gijs de Vries, the EU’s counter-terror co-ordinator, has admitted that the Union is failing to co-operate against the threat.
