Cyprus talks crucial for EU enlargement
Leaders of the Greek and the Turkish sides of the divided island of Cyprus are meeting on 4 December to try to break the 26-year deadlock in the peace process as Cyprus prepares to join the EU in 2004. Cyprus is scheduled to finish accession negotiations with the EU next year.
