European Parliament to debate Echelon report

During the Parliament's plenary session a draft resolution will be put forward calling on national parliaments to scrutinise national intelligence services. The report on Echelon does not state it is used to distort business competition, but does state that "5% of information is gathered through non-open sources" and that "this intelligence could enable the US to earn some $7 billion".
