New food hygiene rules to protect local food traditions
On 15 May 2002, the European Parliament approved the two Commission proposals on the "food hygiene package" in first reading, albeit with a large number of technical amendments. The package completely overhauls and simplifies current legislation on food hygiene and animal health.
