Romania to adopt euro as reference currency before end of 2004
Romania has officially submitted to the EU Council its negotiating position on Economic and Monetary Union in the beginning of November. Romania commits itself to reducing the inflation rate to under 10 percent as of 2004, and to introduce the euro as the only exchange currency for the Romanian lei.
