Commission expected to investigate state aid to Rolls-Royce
The European Commission is expected to launch a probe into whether the British government loans to Rolls-Royce to construct engines for the new Airbus "superjumbo" (A380) constitute illegal state aid. According to media reports, the Commission's competition authority is expected to act upon a formal complaint by United Technologies' Pratt & Whitney division, who teamed with General Electric to develop engines for the Airbus A380 as US competitor to Rolls-Royce.
