Commission puts forward scheme to reduce dioxin in food and feed
The European Commission has presented a proposal to the Standing Committee on Foodstuffs and Standing Committee on Feedingstuffs that would limit the presence of dioxin in food and feed. The proposals includes a strategy which aims to set strict but feasible maximum limits to take effect from January 2002 onwards. Any food or feed greater than these maximum limits would be deemed unsuitable for consumption.
