Commission softens slot rules for airlines

The European Commission decided on 26 October to authorise aviation authorities to freeze the airline slots for the winter season 2002-2003. The EU was under pressure from big European airlines to soften the existing rules on take-off and landing slots as a result of the crisis in the air transport sector after 11 September.
