Moore invites NGOs to trade talks
The secretary-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Mike Moore, has invited over 600 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to attend the 4th WTO ministerial in Qatar in November. The extension of an invitation to some civil society representatives can be viewed in part as an answer to the general criticism that the WTO has opaque decision making processes combined with the choice of Qatar for the meeting. It can also be seen as part of the trend among international financial institutions for greater engagement with civil society.
