Ombudsman criticises Commission Governance White Paper

The European Ombudsman, Jacob Söderman stated in an address to the European Parliament that "the White Paper contains much talk, but few concrete proposals for action to benefit citizens". Mr Söderman emphasised that making European citizenship a living reality is the only way for the Commission to achieve the confidence of the citizens, even though he realises that citizenship may be less fashionable than the more technocratic sounding "governance".
