UK presents emissions trading plans

The British government presented on Tuesday 14 August a greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme aimed at reducing its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2 million tons per year. The scheme will be compatible with plans by the European Commission to introduce an EU-wide emissions trading system in 2005.
