Banks want EU to drop regulation on cross-border payments

The European Banking Federation claims a draft regulation on cross-boder payments would not deliver the intended results and has urged the EU not to put this regulation into effect. Instead, it suggests a step-by-step approach by the banks themselves to achieve the aim of a single euro payment area in 2005.
