Environment ministers agree on sustainable management plan for coastal zones

The Environment Council of 29 October reached a common position on the Commission's Recommendation for integrated coastal zone management (ICZM). The Recommendation calls upon EU Member States to develop national strategies for the management of European coastal areas in order to combat environmental and socio-economic problems such as habitat destruction, coastal erosion, and unemployment.
