Ministers refuse to extend flame retardants ban

The EU's internal market ministers reached a political agreement prohibiting the marketing and use of flame retardant pentaBDE on 27 September 2001. The Council rejected the European Parliament's call to extend the ban on brominated flame retardants to two other products, octaBDE and decaBDE.
