Der französische Einfluss im Europäischen Parlament

In diesem Bericht analysieren Clement Beaune vom Institute d’Etudes Politiques Paris und der Direktor der Fondation Robert Schuman, Thierry Chopin, anlässlich der Halbzeit der sechsten Legislaturperiode (2004-2009) den französischen Einfluss im Europäischen Parlament.

The authors assert that the French influence in the European Parliament appears to have been strengthened, compared with preceding mandates. However, they believe that, with only a few weeks left before a change of presidency that may involve a significant redistribution of responsibilities within the assembly, the French position must be consolidated. 

French elected officials are likely, say the authors, to send a message of disinterest to the European Union, and advise a move away from the „rhetoric of the power“ to „a policy of influence“ among French political leaders.
