"Reality check" in Geneva

World Trade Organisation (WTO) director-general Mike Moore on 30 July warned members in Geneva of the need to resolve differences over issues on the agenda for the Qatar ministerial in November. Mr Moore stressed the importance - and the difficulty - of reaching agreement on a balanced draft in advance of the Qatar meeting. He characterised his comments on the situation as a "reality check" and argued that failure in Qatar "would certainly condemn us [the WTO] to a long period of irrelevance."
